My 23 week old hen suddenly today seems sick. I picked her up and put her on her perch but she fell off as if her legs are paralyzed. She sits all by herself and looks like she is sleeping. She is not laying yet and is eating only if I put food next to her. I just separated her tonight from the rest of the gang. Any ideas?

Has she been vaccinated for Marek's? There aren't too many other things associated with leg paralysis. The other main thing is a vitamin deficiency I believe. If you do a search on "Mareks" you should find tons of diagnostic info, as well as the vitamin deficiency that has similar paralytic symptoms. Mareks is usualy fatal, but on the chance that it's the vitamin deficiency, it may be worth it to try some of those remedies. Hope this helps.

Hi, I just read about your chicken....
My chicken ( popota is her name ) is about two months old, and she so much smaller than the others six ones that I have. About a week ago I found popota in the corner of the chicken coop and not moving, I made sure to bring her in to care for her. To be honest you with i didn't think she was going to make it thru the night, but to my surprise she did. Now, a week later she is eating and drinking water but what she doesn't do is stand. I am so lost as to what to do for her. this is my first time raisin chicken.

thanks for your post I think it is going to help me to narrow down to what is wrong with Popota .

love,
Popota
