My 2 yr go mix over the past day has had symptoms of pale comb decreased appetite (though she is eating just not her usual gobbling everything up) wanting to sit and her bottom seems to be puckering. I did a warm bath which she seemed to enjoy and have isolated her in my bathroom. I live in fl and seems to be hot. Last night during bath I could not feel egg in her vent but early this am I did. So I took her to 24hr vet which gave her calcium gluconate in fluids and started her on abx her temp was 107.5 which from what I read a only slightly high.
He did tell me that he felt that she had some muscle wasting over her sternum. She's been eating good drinking plenty of water. FORGING fine up until yesterday am when I noticed she was slower than usual and her comb was pale.
Any suggestions. Thinking maybe Infection which could cause vit. Def. Which could cause laying problems. I believe her last egg was Sunday. And she is not an everyday layer.
Thank you for your help

She may not be laying eggs because she is sick. I would worm her with SafeGuard liquid goat wormer 1/2 ml or cc, and repeat in 10 days. Valbazen though more expensive is great too. Then I would feed her a scrambled egg daily, and give her some probiotics in her water (or buttermilk or plain yogurt in small amounts.) Look over her skin especially under the vent for any signs of lice or mites and eggs. At her age egg yolk peritonitis or internal laying can be a common illness.

Update.
She seems to have difficulty swallowing food. She pecks but can't keep in mouth. I've tried to look into her mouth and do not see anything. She is drinking okay but her eating has decreased.
I have an apt w avian specialist Saturday am.
She did eat 1/2 scrambled egg and was eating a little feed and small pieces of bread today she tries but having difficulty. No injuries which I can see. Er vet 2 days ago didn't see any injuries.

Feel of her crop--is it large, round, hard, soft, squishy, empty? Look inside her beak and throat for anything unusual such as yellow or whitish gray patches.

Update. Her diagnosis peritonitis.
My hen has been drained twice by vet on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. Her appetite has increased. But she is weak. Two days ago she perked up was walking around doing okay. Today not so. She is very wobbly and legs are weak but eating okay. Will wait and see how she is doing in the am. From what I have read online her prognosis is poor. Will keep a hopeful mind.

Update:
After 3 weeks of treating drew for peritonitis we had to put her down. Sunday night she stopped eating and we knew it was time.
In the my even though she was only 2.5 I believe she had cancer. Vet said she had a hard abdominal mass and I believe the peritonitis manifested from that. She will be greatly missed. She was my first.
