Ok so... Kinda new to chickens.. We have several different and 2 of our bantams have become sick.. One has an eye that she isn't opening and the other has an eye she doesn't open raspy breathing and bubbles in her eye.. We want to help them before they get sicker and possibly spread it to any others.. We bought and administered vetrx orally today.. One started 4 days ago but the one with more sickness started 2 days ago.. Been doing a lot of reading on here and it seems we need to get tylon 50.. But I want to make sure before administering any meds..

Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds respiratory, but I’m not quite qualified to give antibiotic dosing instructions. I would make sure they are in a warm spot, especially at night, andoffer supportive care like vitamins and electrolytes in their water.Do they smell normal? One of the respiratory ailments, Coryza, I think, is usually accompanied by an odor.

They have a good house to roost in at night.. No heat lamp but no wind blows through it.. I dont recall an odor.. I will look closer tomorrow and get some pics..

It sounds like mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) a common respiratory disease that is spread by healthy-looking carriers and through hatching eggs. You cannot cure it, so they will always be carriers and may get sick again whenever they are stressed. Tylan 50 injectable used either orally or as an injection can help treat symptoms, but it is a chronic respiratory disease. Dosage is 0.2 ml per pound of weight given orally twice a day for 5 days. Unless you want this to spread to other chickens, they should be in a closed flock. Sorry that you are dealing with this.
