My chickens were doing fine. I had about six laying hens starting to lay well. Then i bought some more chickens to butcher for later, they ranged from one to three months old. Then my laying hens got sick about 2 weeks after introducing the new chickens. I gave them antibiotics in there water and they finally got better. Laying has stoped sence they have gotten sick. About 1 months later still no eggs two off the young meat birds i bought got sick and died i think one broke here neck and the other had a swollen comb. Now about 2 months later my laying hens are getting sick again. I think that the birds I bought are carriers of a disease and are infecting my laying hens. What Do You Think? It cost about 30$ to send a chicken off to get tested plus shipping and right now that is worth more than my whole flock.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
