sick chickens

I almost feel like getting on crags list and warning people about her are maybe she don't even know that she has a sickness going around in her chickens kind of makes me angry I should have never lost so many babies and it was so heart breaking seeing them die

I have 3 little baby chick one amaricana frizzled silkie mix a white pure silkie plus a little black silkie mix I'm not sure what she is mixed with she is tiny I'm thinking cochin but I'm not sure they are all about 3 weeks old it has been a struggle since I got these chicks I started with 2 my original white one and a little black silkie the black one died the little white one was so upset about being alone so I had my husband go back to the breeder and he got 4 more 2 of those babys died 1 black silkie and a cochin I'm not sure if its the breeder are the breed I have 6 adult chicken and all 6 survived and are healthy strong chickens that I raised from babies so maybe I did something wrong I am just not sure now with the three remaining babies that I have left the smallest black one has this crusty stuff around her eyes and mouth I dont mnow what it is are how to treat it she always has poop caked around her bottom that I clean off for her I love these chicks they are so beautiful but I'm just so frustrated on t h e deaths and problems that I have encountered do u think that the breed has problem and if so I wish the breeder would have warned me are did I get suckered by a bad breeder who sold me sick chicks and what is that crusty stuff and how do I treat it and why does poop keep getting stuck to her bottom and how do I treat that

It sounds like your baby's may have fowl pox, it is cause from biting fly's and mosquitos, when it gets in the eyes they can see well enough to get the proper amounts of food and drink, when they don't get enough to drink they can get pasty butt, , you can clip the bottom feathers so there will be nothing for the poo to stick to.
If it is Pox will clear up in a few weeks it has to run it's course.
worming is a good idea.
do you have any photos of them that show the crusty areas?

So sorry for your loss

If we're talking about the same woman she's basically running a chicken mill...similar to a puppy mill. Too many birds, all in cages, stacked up. I didn't ever go there but the guy I talked to did. When he told me it was from Rochester I knew my gut instinct had been right. She was pushy and curt in emails and I got a bad feeling.

The guy I talked to had quarantined them so it didn't spread to his other pens but he had to treat all birds and some people would have culled as its now been on his property.

He had the two that died sent to the lab and it was Mycoplasma...if I remember correctly. My last post I incorrectly said it was viral.

She definitely needs to stop hatching and hording chickens. She advertises a lot of the rarer breeds and I think that entices people because its not easy to find those around here.

Sorry about the late response I hope u got those pic im using my phone so its kind of unreliable anyway the biggest chick is a amaricana silkie frizzled mix the white one is a pure silkie and the smallest is a silkie mix I don't know what she is mixed with I'm think cochin but I'm not sure

It is ok. I agree with zazouse sounds like fowl pox. You need to keep the sick ones away from other chickens.

Hi I have a sick chook, very tired looking withdrawn and puffed up. Is dominant chicken of 4 not sure what's up, any advice ?

My rooster seems a bit withdrawn his eyes seem Like they r half closed and whats odd is he has a open soar on his comb it looks like half of his large comb is going to fall off because it bends in half I:( was looking at his face when I let him out of his coop and I noticed some white crusty stuff on his comb and face im not sure what is wrong with him so I am definitely a little worried I had to talk him into coming out of the coop which is strange for him he is always willing to come out in fact he is usually pretty aggressive anybody have any ideas what to do I think some antibiotics should be the first thing I should do but I definitely need some advise
