I've got some chicks that were hatched out by a broody hen about 3-4 weeks ago. I noticed one that had one eye shut. Still eating, still drinking, acted fine. A couple of days later I noticed that another one had one eye shut, and was having trouble breathing. Then the original one that had the eye shut, it was oozing. I immediately gave them some duramycin. Those 2 didn't end up making it. I now have 3 others that their eyes are getting gunky. I am still giving them duramycin but I have no clue what this could possibly be! They are all still eating and drinking fine.

They all seem start off with their eyes looking like it's gotten wet and eventually begins to swell shut.

I have one large coop with separate runs. The momma and chicks are in their own run. None of my other chickens are sick. I get all of my chickens from a lady that is local. I've had nothing but great success with all of my chickens from her. I don't know if they just have a type of respiratory infection or what. This is the first batch of chicks that I have had hatch out and well..it hasn't been the best either. I had one die from coccidiosis, then the 2 died that I had stated above about & now these 3. That leaves me with 1 left that isn't sick.

Not sure where you are in TX - but if another one were to die, and you don't get an answer from this forum, you may want to have the chick necropsied -- TX A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Labs (TVMDL) are staffed by excellent Vets. There is one in Amarillo, one in Center, TX, one in College Station, one in Gonzales. I have used both Gonzales and now since I have moved Center TX. I always want to know as much as possible about any mysterious illnesses or death. -- They are necropsy facilities, not treatment facilities....so bear in mind - it is one way through the doors for a chicken -

Necropsy fee is 35.00 -- http://tvmdl.tamu.edu/testing-information/2015-tvmdl-fee-schedule/
