In the Brooder

I received some chicks from Hoovers on Friday afternoon, they hatched Wednesday. Within 24 hours 2 died. I suspected coccidia gave corid in their water and gave alittle to the third chick via syringe. She perked up for about 12 hours but ultimately died because she wasn’t eating. I had been dipping her beak in sugar water to try and get her some energy. She was just real lethargic, and quite a bit smaller than the others. What am I missing? Could it be coccidosis just started treatment too late?

5 golden comets
4 black sex links ( was 5)
3 buff orpingtons (was 5)

Sorry for your losses but I doubt it was coccidiosis. It was more likely shipping stress.

Do you have a thermometer in your brooder?

Please be extremely careful putting anything into a chick's mouth because one drop down the wrong pipe will kill it.

Thanks the temp is 95° no drafts and the others are scattered all around the brooder. I gave the chick liquid in the syringe on the tip of her beak and not down her mouth as to not drown her.

95 would be too hot for chicks in my house.

Can you take a picture of your setup the way it is right now?

Did you teach them how to drink? Winter is a hard time to order chicks, it's very hard on them and they often get chilled. It wasn't coccidiosis. Sorry for your loss.
Thank you! Yes when the first came gave them sav-a-chick water and dipped each one in the water and made sure each one drank on their own.

Here’s more pics of setup.
