sick chicks

[3 sisters farm]

I have some chicks in their own coop/run They range from 12 weeks to 9 weeks in age, I lost one of 14. 3-4 weeks ago looked trampled...had had a severe thunderstorm...cleaned everthing. Then today one of the 4 buff orphington chicks was fine eating and drinking and active....this one can get off the ground fairly well ... when I went out a couple of hours ago I was dead...neck very floppy, no eye drainage, feathers healthy etc. What concerns me is the smallest chicken a small black silkie about 9-10 weeks had a spot where her feathers had been picked, it seemed to be weaping, she seems to have lost feathers...I thought (still think she may be molting) but today her eyes seem irritated and lots of her feathers plucked...a bigger silkie my be bully....it actually bullies the buffs a bit. Help we lost omlet and now might be losing miny. I did put her in her own cage and got sulfa in her water...she is eating and drinking. mary

From what you describe, doesn't really sound like you have sick chickens. Sounds like they are just scared of storms which can lead to huddling, smushing, and suffocation of the smaller birds when they cram into corners and run into walls in the dark. Silkies are particularly easy to be pecked on by others because they can't see well enough to get away, and are prone to brain damage due to skulls that do not always fill in and thus expose their brain under their skin. The residual from pecking can be starvation for those at the bottom of the order, so it might be best to give extra space and extra feeding stations for the ones you have now.

I need help! My chickens are sick and I have already lost 2. Please help if you can! My birds have an eye problem, they are draining and some of them are closed shut. They also seem like they have a cold or something. I have added teramycin to the water it has helped a few but they are not better completely.
I am in FL Yes where the storm is there coops are flooded and I have set them free. I hope that the sick ones don't spread whatever they have to the few healthy one I have left.
Help if you can, I appreciate any advice.
This is my first flock. I really cae for the girls too.
