Hi, I'm new to raising chickens. I've got about 20 adults that are all very healthy. As well, 15 adult guineas.
I have about 15new chics and they are slowly all dying of the same thing.... their eyes swell shut, the birds become very lathargic, then die.

Anyone have any idea what this could be? I've started putting a general antibiotic in their water(as of today).

Any help would be appreciated.

First, Welcome to BYC. I hope we can be helpful.

I'm not sure what is wrong with your chicks, but you may get more helpful answers by posting in the emergencies, diseases section.

When you do post there, add some more information, such as where they are being brooded, temperatures, type of bedding, feed etc.

Good luck and sorry for your sick chicks.

soonerchick I believe because of your name you are here in Okla and the heat is getting to your chicks.....its rough on them....my chicks are staying healthy and happy but it takes work.....I put the sprinklers near their chicken tractor during the heat of the day....they get vit water and ice in their water and lots of cold treats watermelon and cold peas.....be careful not to let their starter feed get wet and moldy.....shade lots of shade and greens.....the dust right now is really hard on them
