I have a Cornish Cross, about 5 weeks. She/He has been listless and not eating today. DH picked her up and clear mucus came from her mouth/beak. We separated her, and I gave her some duramycin-10. I gently dipped her beak into the water, and then she couphed up yucky brown stuff.

We just finished our last bag of medicated feed and started on some Organic pride chick feed.

What are her chances?

What about my other 30 chickens? Should I also give them Duramycin-10?

They are in a brand new coop and run, so I have no idea what happened.

I've had chickens in the past and have NEVER had one sick.

HELP

CXs are not very hardy birds. She could be suffering from any number of ailments that afflict these birds. I wouldn't worry too much about her having something contagious and I wouldn't treat the flock with an antibiotic unless you are sure they need it. Antibiotic usage carries its own risks. It sounds as though she may have a crop problem. Have you tried massaging the crop to get it to empty?
