even if it was histoplasmosis shouldn't be a problem, if she has a healthy immune system, there is also toxoplasmosis. It sounds like a viral infection not parasitic. I doubt it was the birds, more likely a shopping cart, other kids kinda thing. Mono can take awhile to get over, so hand tough!

toxoplasmosis can look a lot like mono, and unless they have a weak immne system they get over it. Most people with animals have been exposed to it, with no signs of sickness.
If the mono test comes back negative it would n't hurt to bring it up, if she is still real sick. Testing for toxo would involve testing for antibodies in the blood.
But I'm still leaning towards mono, which is much more likely.

The symptoms you describe are the same ones our youngest DD had when she was diagnosed with mono 2yrs. ago.

You all are so smart! So here is my next question.

My daughter feels pretty badly and although not getting worse, still not getting better. She is 10 and loves her chickens!

We have not gotten the mono back but the doctor told me if she doesn't have a fever, I should be sending her to school. When I did send her on Monday, they sent her back.

He also said that even if the test is positive for mono, I should send her anyway, as long as she doesn't share bottles and stuff.

This is not sitting well with me.......

What do you all think?

Call the school, tell them what the doc said and get their opinion.

I am a nursing student. i have been trying since i was 20, everytime I start back and get going i end up pregnant. Had my tubes tied after the last one, but this time I was sidelined by new onset epilepsy. One day I will finish , I start back next semester.
