Sick duck, being treated for aspergillosis

How close are you to the vet? Maybe tomorrow you could take her in there and they could show you how to tube feed.
I’m 15 minutes from my vet, they are calling me tomorrow to check on her, but no avian vets will be in till Tuesday and the other don’t really know birds but I’m going to find out. I’m going to try to wrap her in a blanket and sing to her till she calms down and try to feed her, if I can do that with success I can do her medicine the same I just gotta calm her which we have our special Birdie love song so we will see.

Does anyone know what this poop means?

Poop like that can be from not eating enough or it can be infection. When you talk to the vet tomorrow, can you ask them why they prescribed Naxcel instead of Baytril or Amikacin? Can you also ask them if it would be beneficial to do a gram stain of her trachea and of her poop?

I sang to my ducks, too. If it didn’t help them, it did help me stay calm and well-regulated so my birds could regulate off of me. I did keep my ducks upright while they were wrapped up, rather than cradling them on their backs like a baby. I tried to do the same pattern each time so they knew what to expect and could feel more safe. I’m sure I sounded like a nut singing little songs and talking encouragingly to ducks.

My most seriously injured duck didn’t eat for almost a week. Peas and mealworms finally got her to eat, but nothing worked until she was ready. I hope your sweet birdie can hang in there and recover.

Well she did much better on dosing today, it’s only her third dose, but she is breathing much better after, closed bill some and doesn’t seem so uncomfortable like she usually is and really much better breathing after, I wrapped her in her towel and held her neck up in my hand and loved on her, coughed a little after and some breath strain, but definitely not as long after, we will see after tonight. Maybe I’m getting my miracle after all, God’s amazing we will see!!

She seems to be a little better, no huge fits last night, I actually got some sleep lol. She still has a hard time breathing when she tries to preen herself, poor girl I keep telling her she is beautiful and does not have to do that, of course they never listen lol. I called vet but she is off today so she will call me back tomorrow.
