Hi everyone,
I’m hoping for some advice as we are researching as well, but we have an adorable buff duck that is 1.5 years old. She started acting strange about a week ago and would isolate herself from the rest of the flock. Even when free ranging, she would come out but just kept to herself and free ranged in her own spot. She’s walking fine. She looks fine. So at first we thought she ate something that upset her stomach. We gave her a lacitive of epsom salt and water. She pooped a dark color and we were hoping it was downhill. We’ve been keeping her in our basement until full recovery. We’ve also been supply her with a full buffet of treats and healthy foods and fresh veggies to encourage her to eat something and also lots of water with nutridrench. She only ate a handful of mealworms that night, so the next day we give her a warm epson salt bath and went to put her away for rest and she immediately pooped out this white thing that was shaped like a tadpole only the main part was the size of a large olive. It stunk really bad and we assumed it was an egg and she was egg bound all along. So we were excited again to see her recovering. She still has this giant buffet of duck food, corn, tomatoes, apples, meal worms, “quack snacks”, a piece of bread, and mixed bird seed, but all she will eat is a couple mouthfuls of mealworms twice a day maybe. So we give her another warm epson bath last night and she poops out a couple white peas after. She walks normal and quacks normal and drinks a ton of water with nutridrench, but she eats very little mealworms, poops a mix of brown after meal worms and white after epson salt bath and clear water all other times. We’re thinking antibiotics next... any other insights would be greatly appreciated
