Hi! A lady on the internet was giving away free ducks, so my mom took them, she got them to our house in a small tote with the lid on, 4 of them! from an hour drive. she said she took great care of them, but im not so sure.

the first thing i noticed is one of the females had wet feather and was walking terribly weird and falling over.

i took her inside immediately and treated the wet feather

her eyes are very wet, she breathes very heavy, and had liquid coming out of her nose so i was wondering if that was a sinus infection and how to treat it, her breathe also reaks. I am not sure if that is a normal thibg but my other ducks dont smell like that

she also has bumblefoot on both feet, which i will be treating today after i get the supplies because i was not ready for this

she also stands very straight, tail standing straight on the ground

i was wondering if this was due to lack of nutrition and/or bad living conditions. all of the other ducks seem totally fine

she is soo very sweet and i need any help i can get

Okay, so she has a sinus infection and bumblefoot. Knowing you just got her, it is probably from poor living conditions from the previous owner. A nose medication made for ducks should probably be used for the sinus infection. You should be able to find some at the feed store. I'm sorry to say this, but she may have Cocci. Here is a post i found the may help you deal with it:

A disease caused found in young stock, who are particularly vunerable at 3-8 weeks, but can affect any bird, of any age. All chickens carry some of these in their gut, but allowed to multiply can result in death.

Signs- White diarrhoea, sometimes with blood found in it, mopey birds, thirsty, sudden death, slow and poor growth, death normally occurs during the night.

Cause- A protozoan parasite, up to 34 different kinds. The eggs are passed out through droppings of an infected bird. The eggs then take residence on another hen in the small intestine, and multiply. High stress and a low immune system, causes rapid death of the stock.

Treatment- A medication called Baytox will usually clear it up, but you may still oose some birds. In some chick started crumbs you will find a coccidiostat, which helps prevent young birds from catching the disease in the future. Some people and major organisations use Paracox in water for the chicks at around a week old, and will be given for a further week.

So, could this be one of the symptoms. Do you think this is one of the symptoms?
Sorry about the poorly cared duck and please help it!
Hope your duck feels better soon.

Thanks for replying, she does seem very thirsty all the time and lays around all day, but other then none of the other symptoms apply to her. She is so very sweet and ill do the best i can to help her!

Give her deep water to dunk her head....Try and locate antibiotic for her...Sounds like it could be sinus?....The stress from the bumble foot might have taken her down..Soak her foot in Epsom salt and use clear iodine to lift the infection to the surface ...Then pick off the scab...Keep her foot clean....
Best wishes...
