Sick duckling! Heavy breathing Help please

Well tractor supply was out of the nutri drench so I got some durvet vitamins and electrolytes and sav-a-chick electrolytes and vitamins.. Are these okay? We also decided to bring a few of the smaller ducklings inside, just in case. Hopefully everyone else is okay!

I haven't used either of those but I have seen them recommended so I'd say they are both good. Just be careful not to over dose. when you get time how about some pics, as you can see by my sig Scovy's are my favorite ducks. And I hope the rest are okay too.

Yeah, I read about them over dosing so I diluted it a lot!

These are the three we decided to bring in today. The middle one is tiny compared to the other ducklings.. And we just brought the other two in for company and so the mom wouldn't have to keep as many warm. One of them does have this weird crooked beak though.. It doesn't seem to be having problems but we brought it in to be safe

They are all adorable as are the parents. Dad sure does look proud, how is he with them? and I can see the only very tiny one good you brought them in this will get them going to catch up. and the one with the crooked bill is it able to eat okay? it may get straightened some maybe with some extra of the vitamins might help I don't know but as long as it's not have difficulty eating it's most likely okay. Their all beautiful and lovely water. Don't know if you know this though Snapping turtles will eat ducklings so if you have them in your pond it would be a good idea to get rid of them.

We divided our chicken coop in half with fencing so the mom and ducklings are on one side and the chickens and duck is on the other, so they all get to see each other. He's always sitting with them on the other side of the fence. The only problem is sometimes he'll want to mate so he tends to step on the ducklings when trying to do that, so we keep them separated unless we are there to intervene or the ducklings have space. We think the crooked beak is eating okay.. And we took the kayak out when we let the ducklings go to the pond to keep them along the shore. We haven't ever seen turtles but we aren't positive.

"Each scoop equals 5 gm. For dietary supplementation, mix one scoop per gallon of drinking water. Refresh water daily."
but it's for all livestock and poultry.. Do you think it needs to be even more diluted than that for ducklings..?

I'd half that till they are at least 4 weeks then you can go full strength sometimes when chickens have crooked beaks they will give a deeper bowl so they can scoop so you might keep that in mind if this one looks like he may need some extra help.

Hi there, sorry to hear that the sick little one didn't make it.

I have been using durvet vitamins and electrolytes. I was told by the feed store owner that they are very powerful... to use just a tiny little sprinkle/pinch in the small waterers (which hold about 5 cups of water maybe?).

So what I've been doing is 1/4 teaspoon of durvet to 3 gallons of water. I really end up using only 1-2 gallons of the mixed water per week. So far, there have not been signs of vitamin overdose in my 5-week old runner ducklings.

I don't know if this dose would be too diluted for your situation, but maybe this info will help.
