We hatched our own ducks this year and had a 100% hatch rate w/ 12 ducklings. They were only about a week old when we had 3 die. At first i thought it was just a weak duck, but then I started noticing similiar symptoms in the ducks prior to them dieing. Things like milky diarrhea, lethargy, and reluctance to eat. With the first two ducks we found them dead with there nostrils seemingly closed over, but with the 3rd duckling I was with her when she died. About 20 min prior I noticed one nostril had closed over and started panicking, but there wasn't anything I could do. Now we have a duckling with milky white poops and are getting concerned. When I say milky diarrhea I mean every poop was like that, not just a few. If anyone can point us in the right direction that would be wonderful, these are supposed to be show birds and we can't lose another one. Thank you so much for the input!
And if anyone knows why their nostrils closed up that would be so helpful!!

I believe white poop is usually an indication of dehydration.
I think you are correct.

A necropsy of the ducklings would help a lot to get to the bottom of this. I agree a vet would be your best course of action.

How old are the ducklings now and what are you feeding , brooding them in. Any info would be of help.

@casportpony has the books and knowledge of illnesses .

Since last night the duckling has started to have some normal poops mixed in w/ the bad poops. I don't think she's sick, but I'm still concerned because the other 3 ducklings all seemed to die from the same thing. Our ducklings are about 10 day old now and we brood them in a kiddie pool. I change the straw once a day and wipe it down. They are all fed dumor chick feed and I add a niacin/ vitamin supplement to their water. Thank you for all the help!!
