Sick duckling- seizure and red, irritated eyes

Thank you so much everyone! I’m going to keep on with the vitamins I have just purchased and see if this improves them if not, I’ll look at buying that other stuff.

Can’t thank you all enough for the advice and support!

How is she today?

Her eyes look a bit better. She is not closing them as much and the inner eyelid is not coming across her eye as much. Still a little more visible than I remember it being or compared to the other duckling. I’m just going to keep up with saline washes daily until it looks normal.

She is eating well and getting a fair bit of the vitamin supplements but she is still shaking (it’s only been a day though) and I notice Her little legs a maybe a bit bowed/not right because she keeps placing one Weber foot over the other when she is standing or walking sometimes. We got her when she was one week old and hatched in an incubator.

Is it possible she was not healthy from the get go or have I done something wrong? I feel like I’ve been trying so hard but she obviously has some problems

Have you been using 1 Tab of Nutritional yeast to each cup of feed? Shaky legs is usually a sign of niacin deficiency main reason to add the b complex because it works quicker than even Nutritional yeast. And it can also. Help with neurological issues like seizures. Yes this could have been something she was born with but doesn’t mean you can’t help her now and just might bring her through this. Sure worth giving it a try.

I use 1 Tbs of brewers yeast to 1 cup of feed plus another 1 Tbs of nutritional yeast as well.

I will do everything I possibly can for her, we love her so much. I was more so asking not because I’ve given up but because I am wracked with guilt that maybe I have not done enough or am not doing enough. I’ve been so stressed about losing either of them that I’ve quite literally made myself sick as well :(

I am sorry, sounds like you have started out just like I do with mine except I only used Nutritional yeast and put the liquid b in their water. As long as I don’t see shaky legs or other signs of niacin def I only used the liquid b for 2 weeks but still using NY and keep that up till 10 weeks old. Everyday then I still give NY to all my birds 1x a week after they become adults. Probably don’t need it but it’s so good for us, I take so I give it to my birds and dogs too. I honestly don’t think this has anything to do with you and your care. Sounds to me like she has had excellent care and love from the beginning. Just keep doing what your doing for her your seeing some progress now with her eyes. Hopefully the BComplex will kick in soon. Please try and take care of yourself too hey you take some of this B Complex:hugs it’s wonderful for the nervous system.

Thank you so much, you have been a wealth of knowledge and so supportive :hugs I am praying the b vitamins start to improve things for her. And hopefully in a week or so I can report happy news :fl

The bigger one has stopped the shaking all day long, she does very occasionally shake still but I have to really look closely and I think it’s more so when we are handling her. She’s looking much more steady on her feet.

The little one, the one we’ve been discussing, is doing ok. Her eyes look back to normal but she’s still super shaky and trippy on her feet. She had so much energy yesterday though! More than I’ve ever seen she was so excited running around the little water container I filled for her bath. And she is back to cleaning herself and dipping her head. So I think she’s on the improve. No more seizures since that first one. I’m pretty much giving them the b vitamins in their water and treats. I heard they just pee out what they don’t use so I hope that’s ok? I’d rather cover my bases as she doesn’t always eat all the food or drink all the water.
