One of our ducklings (3.5 weeks old) had slightly sunken eyes this morning and she’s not been growing as fast as the rest. She’s always been on the more docile side compared to the others. I think she isn’t aggressive enough to push her way in sometimes for food and water. Anyway, we noticed that she wasn’t walking around much and her wings were moving up and down kind of like a twitch today. So we separated her to observe her more closely and keep her quarantined in case she has something contagious. She did have watery diarrhea when she went. I made an electrolyte drink with added raw honey, ACV and a clove of garlic and she’s been drinking it and eating a little. Now she’s running around again and crying for her sisters so it seems like she’s on the mend. Do you guys think she was just dehydrated and not getting enough food or do you think it sounds like a sickness? If it’s a sickness, any ideas on what it is and if there’s anything else we should do? How long should we keep her quarantined? Also looking for ideas on how to help this duckling put on some more weight. Thank you!!!

Since my last post a few hours ago, her stools have returned to normal and she is eating and drinking a lot!

It sounds like she was just a little hungry and thirsty. You should be able to return her to the others, but make sure she gets a chance to eat and drink as much as she wants.

She’s seams fine now but she still appears to have sunken eyes. Is this just how her eyes happen to look and we just never noticed it till she started acting sick? Or is there something wrong? Here’s a picture. Let me know what you think...

To me, her eyes look tired. None of the other duckling eyes look like that.
