Hi,
I have noticed a couple of my ducks have bubbly discharge coming from their eyes. Their nostrils seem clear. Poop are pretty normal as far as I can tell. Otherwise they are all active, eating and drinking well, and generally carrying on as normal. There are 9 ducks all together, and 2 seem to have the symptom.
I did a web search but couldn't find anything that sounded like what they have going on. Any ideas? Treatment?
These guys are "runner" ducks, about 6 months old. They have commercial waterfowl food available in their pen, but usually eat the layer feed out of the chicken feeders, too. They free range during the day, and eat a lot of grass and slugs and worms and such. They also like to go behind the broiler tractor and clean up what the broilers drop.
At night they have their own pen, but since we've been having some trouble with predators, we've been shutting them in a large, plastic dog crate. They used to have a 3 sided shelter, but there was no way to close it up, so we replaced it with the crate. They go in the crate by themselves at dusk and we close the door and lock it, and let them back out in the morning. They also have a large wading pool with stairs to play in during the day.
Thanks!
