Sick gander with bubbles in corner of eye

Thank you Miss Lydia for the information it is very helpful. This morning Gwen seems a bit better. I gave him the charcoal flush yesterday he isn't getting worse as I was afraid of so that in itself is a plus. His poop thru the night kinda the same with some green color in it. He was standing over the pedilight vit water instead of laying down. It seemed that when I would carefully massage his crop he would poop with a little green color to it. I hunted down his favorite dandy lions but still doesn't seem to want to eat. I gave him the poultry RX last night before he went to sleep. I was afraid he would be worse or gone when I sprang from bed and checked on him I was happy to see him standing. I am praying he can tuff it out a bit longer so I can take him to the vet. He doesn't seem to mind me massaging his crop and each time he then poops. Should I keep doing that? I still feel or think it is his crop area that is bothering him. Yesterday after a massage I placed him in his pool he tried to be himself wanting to wiggle and clean himself in the pool but when his neck would go down to dip in the water all motion stopped as if when he puts his neck in the down like something is blocking this action. He wants to groom his chest feathers but acts like he can't. Oh to have an Xray machine and some tests to check some of these things off the list. Vet returns back to this state wens which still feels like a lifetime away. I can not tell you how greatful I am to at least have this great community of caring Bird people so again thank you for all advice and suggestions deeply appreciated.

Make sure the vet does a fecal to rule out worms and cocci both can bring them down fast.

Happy to hear he is some better today Hope he can hang in there till Wed. at least you have a vet that will see poultry there are none around us, Dogs cats mostly it. No farm vets even we have to do our own doctoring if need be.

We need Dr. Pol lol

Thanks for updating thinking about Gwen today and you too. Have you tried him on some soupy feed? warm water a bit of ACV and feed mixed together to look like soup? sometimes when they are feeling poorly they will try something like that. I am worried with him not eating. Also put some ACV into his drinking water 1-2 Tabs to a gallon of water it's a tonic and can help kill some bacteria. If he doesn't mind you massaging his crop then by all means keep doing it. Just don't try to get him to vomit he may aspirate.

Thank you Miss Lydia for getting back to us and saying prayers will never turn that away. I am sorry but i am not sure what AVC stands for? I gave him steamed oats but he didnt seem interested in it. I wanted to get wheat but none in the area. When I get a hold of the vet I will be sure to have these things checked. I have two vets in my area but same as you don't and will not see birds. I gave him the poultry powder with vitamins and electrolytes in a gallon of water. He seems a tad better raised his voice at his daddy hahaha instead of the sigh and hasn't been laying down as much. There hasn't been anymore bubbles in the eye. I will go pick up whatever for him as it has been so long since I have seen him eat. He might be eating when I am not there I just haven't seen it. If he had worms wouldn't his mate have signs too? I know it is that way with horses in the same pasture. But again these are my first experience with geese and they are my kids with feathers and spend all my day together with them. So I don't ever leave them except to sleep as my hubby has to draw the line somewhere :)

LOL mine too.

Okay he may just have a heavier load of worms then again he may not even have any. But it would be good to rule it all out.

ACV is apple cider vinegar I buy the one with the mother in, it is best for using when they aren't feeling well Give him a bucket with ACV and the other one with his vits and electrolytes. He can also wash his face in this solution[it won't sting] and it helps with eye bubbles which usually means they aren't washing their faces especially when they feel bad.

Oh okay I will go pick some up. He is sounding more like himself lol. And seems in better spirits the watermelon is gone looks like they tried some of the steamed oats with thin pieces of cucumber in it. They have layena mixed with oats. Now I will go grab him some ACV so he has that to. I Appreciate your time and help Miss Lydia. You are a gem!

Miss Lydia is ACV liquid okay to use and how much to a gallon of water as tablets are not available in my area.

Thank you Miss Lydia yes I am in the USA. My area only had standard ACV liquid in the bottle. They didn't have the tablets with mother in it. Gwen has taken drinks from both buckets now. I gave him a little unsweetened yogart 1/2 teaspoon. Should I maybe blend in a blender some fresh greens dandylions and try to give him that for food ? I am so out of my element here and Wednesday seems so far away still. He seems to be maintaining his spirits lifted a little but still not himself. His partner is in heaven though with all these extra treats.

LOL I bet she loves all of it.

I haven't ever seen ACV in tablets with the mother. I know Braggs and also I believe Heinz makes the ACV with mother I Buy at Sams club. Reg will be okay too. Glad to hear he has drank out of both buckets.

You can try anything you think he maybe interested in. I know Wed seems very far away.

hello i just thought i would give an update to my lovley goose who is doing well. The vet was pleased and said he had something lodged in his crop and with all the help from here that i got helped save him. It was great to have him back to his wonderful self. Eating drinking and letting me know he is all better. So again a big thank you to Miss Lydia for your help and wisdom which helped saved my goose. I didnt want to not update as i know how many times the story does not end well but this one ended very well. I have learned a bunch of valuable information.
