People who have geese seem to learn by experience on what to do or not do. Not all the people you ask know everything about geese at a feed store or old farmer's ways. Remember the BEST feed for geese is waterfowl or gamebird feed. It has the proper amount of all the vitamins they need. But if one likes you can also use brewers yeast for animals not the kind that rises bread that is a no no! But you put I believe one cup per 10 pounds. It has niacin and vitamin B in it..

RURU one time I asked a fellow who worked at our only feed store[and he had chickens] what kind of wormer to get, he told me to use bleach in their drinking water. Well I just about feel over, kinda goes with how people use to worm their dogs down south here, chewing tobacco is what they gave them.

There´s so much ignorance. Coming from England, I´m already used to various easily-available treatments......and when I went to an agricultural merchants for a wormer here, they advised....basically, bleach!! They actually produce it for treating the animals´sleeping quarters, etc, but they even give it to the animals or birds to clear them out! I said no way!!

There are some folks here that have a lot of experience in raising, for example, turkeys, and have their own ways of doing things. Like feeding garlic and onions. A bit like ACV.

Well, 2 local agricultural merchants that I use are learning fast....the nice thing is, they´re open to it, they get on the internet and get in touch with the reps. I find out what´s available here, and they try to get it in, then after a while other people start to use the products. Much better. But not everything´s available here, and if the store thinks it really won´t sell, like waterbird feed, they don´t want to stock it. Fair enough. It´d probably be very expensive, too. Here I need to make it up myself.

For example, I hunted around for some good quality dog feed, as 2 of mine have allergies to corn, which is widely in dog food. It took me a while, but I found some in the end, corn-free, but the feed merchant didn´t want to get it in for me unless I promised to buy the 10 sacks that was the minimum for ordering. I agreed, and bit by bit other people started buying it.I also went through the ingredients with them, as they just believed what´s on the front of the packaging, and showed them the ingredients in comparison to the one I´d managed to buy elsewhere, and explained why this one was better..... It´s now very popular, and sometimes they´ve run out when I want it!

All about sharing experiences and learning....not staying in ignorance is so good, it´s always easy when you know!

They only have 50lb bags and I was liked shocked you could not get it in smaller bags. Little did I know how much them little piggies ate!

She also told me to feed it for a good year. Boy did I find out different when I started to research about how long to feed growth formula.

Wormers is another story. I am going to have to change the way I worm my birds. I have been using that DE powder that kills bugs in their pens, but I used it to worm them because that is what I was told to use.

I am going to get that Ivemectin cow wormer where you use 1/2 cc on the neck between the wings. It costs $40.00 but well worth it. I spelled that wrong.

I use Epernix too RURU it's used the same way and I believe is the same as Ivermectin but no egg withdrawl which is wonderful when you have chickens and don't want to toss eggs. Boy are mine eating like piggies right now, must be some serious cold weather coming our way.

So you just use 1/2cc behind the neck and wings? Where do you find it and how much is it?

I had to order from Jeffers RURU I couldn't find any around me. I used 9 drops right on the neck I didn't put it any where else. I used the chickens weight scale and for LF it was 7 drops. you could probably go with 10 drops depending on weight of your geese. I'm thinking it was around high 30's for a bottle but last a good while. Last time I wormed everyone I used Verm-X But I still have the Epernix too. I had a bottle with dropper in it that I had saved and poured the liquid in it so I could use the dropper. I remember talk on BYC about Ivermectin being safe to use and it is used on humans so I would think it would be a good one to use also.
