I have an 18 month old RIR hen that can can’t walk. She can shuffle around the coop floor, but can’t stand up fully. I don’t see any injury, but there could be something that I just can’t see. Her comb is a good red, but she looks like she is hitting a hard molt. She last laid an egg yesterday.
This morning I offered her scrambled eggs, mealworms and a few blueberries. She ate the berries, but not the rest. Her poop that i saw was loose and dark.
I have separated her from the other 3. I just don’t know what is going on, so I’d appreciate help.

Are you seeing weakness in either leg? Does she lift up a leg or put weight on both legs? Is she using her wings to help get around? Can you look at her lower abdomen between her legs and check for any enlargement which could be ascites or other issue? Does she still lay eggs? Injury, infection, reproductive disorder, or something like Mareks could cause trouble walking.

I would keep her separated in a dog crate in with the other chickens. Make sure that she is offered her usual chicken feed as her primary diet. Water can be added, scrambled egg, and occasional tuna or canned cat food if she won’t eat. Has she been wormed recently? That might be something you would want to do, and Valbazen is very good to use. Molt is very hard on chickens. Most of the illness I have seen happen during a molt or in the coldest winter weather. Vet care sometimes can be helpful, since lab and xrays can be done.

Her walk is sort of a right, left left, right, left left. Sit. Not really using her wings. She is dropping feathers like crazy.
I don’t feel any enlargement. Near her lower abdomen.
