Good afternoon my hen is sick and been like this and she doesn’t want it eat at all and drinks vary little water I think it could be because of the heat but we brought inside the house but she doesn’t want to eat or drink anything and I’m very scared plus she is a healthy hen she has never tea done anything like this also considering she only 3 years olds and a couple of months ago she stop laying eggs but I didn’t really have a concern abt that since that is normal until this week she became sick but a couple of days ago one of my family members gave her some bread as a treat but they didn’t realize that the bread was expired I’m very concerned pls help !! I don’t want to lose my hen

How much bread did she eat? Was there a lot of mold on it, or was it just expired? How does her crop feel—empty or full, firm, doughy, or squishy/puffy? Can you check it again in the morning before she has anything to eat or drink? If there is still food in it let us know how it feels. You could give her some small chips of chilled coconut oil or add some olive oil to some egg. That might speed the bread through her. Offer water all day long. She might try eating and drinking if she is around the other chickens, but make sure they don’t pick on her? I usually leave mine near the other chickens, and if they need to be separated, a wire dog crate in the coop or run in the shade is best. Offer her some bits of scrambled or boiled egg, wet chicken feed, small bits of tuna or salmon, or canned cat food. Hold water up to her beak to sip. Electrolytes might help until she is eating well. Has she been molting (losing feathers) recently or just not laying eggs?
