Separate birds who are ill. Treat external lesions with iodine or blukote, watch for signs of internal lesions, and if you find them, again separate the bird and swab the throat with listerine (the original icky tasting kind) at least twice daily, removing as much of the thick white/yellow coating as possible each time. It will bleed and be painful, but if it is not removed it will block the birds airway and throat. A bird who cannot breate or eat will not live.

Also, spray the yard and coop for mosquitoes to kill as many as possible, and nightly spray the coop with a mosquito repellant such as you would use on yourself. Mites can also pass fowl pox, so make sure to put poultry dust or sevin in the bedding.

Pox is a virus. There is no cure for it but you can treat the symptoms and take steps to prevent seconary infection. My girls just had pox. Most had dry pox but there were a few, 3, with wet pox. I separated them and only treated the ones with wet pox which has symptoms that affect the respiratory system. I did not have any with dry pox that scratched them but they can become infected from scratching and I believe it was iodine that I read was helpful in treating the lesions. There's a lot of info on this site about pox. You've got to do some searching tho.

The good news is once they have it it is highly unlikely they will ever get it again.

Godspeed,
