Sick hen, treated for coccidiosis, ups & downs - now what?

I did take her off the Corid for maybe 3 days following the 3-day drench dose and then 2 days or so of Corid-medicated water. I did about 2 or 3 days of vitamins/probiotics, but saw no results and went back to the Corid. So hard to treat when I really didn't know exactly what it was.

I agree, I think the antibiotics didn't do anything.

There was 1 day when she wasn't eating and that was the day I thought she'd die because she was pretty much on her side passed out, but this was only about 1 week into her condition. She did improve from there which gave me hope, but in the end it took her.

Someone in the coop had diarrhea, but when I isolated her, she did in fact have solid poop.

wow what a roller coaster! Mine has yet to make a solid poop which is concerning. I think im going to pull her off the Corid (its been 5 days in her drinking water in addition to 3 days of directly in her mouth so im hoping if its Cocci its been eliminated at this point) and focus on getting food in her. Ive put in so much time in and really bonded with her and Im going to be crushed if she doesn't make it but I feel like her chances are slim given the shape she is currently in. She eats like 2 bites of food then sleeps and when she moves around she is droopy and wobbly. Its horrible. I wish there was more I knew to do! I really appreciate your response. I certainly am learning a lot having read about your experience. I wish you had a different outcome. It truly sounds like you did everything you could ❤️

I wish you the best. It does make me feel better to know others could potentially benefit from hearing about my experience. Someone else on here once suggested a feeding tube as well, but I wasn't ready to get into that, plus my bird was eating.

I definitely know that feeling... putting in the time to bond, all invested and then issues happen. I actually have another chicken I noticed a few hours ago having trouble walking and collapsing legs. Not the same symptoms of the one I recently lost, but I'm just thinking, come on, can't we get a break?
