Sick hen

I still wonder about Mareks disease, but internal layers can become lame as well. Chickens will Mareks will all have differing symptoms, but sometimes they will get stuck on their sides or backs with feet in the air, not being able to right themselves. Sometimes they can lie with both legs out to the front or back of them, and sometimes with one leg i front while the other leg is under or in back of them. It can't be diagnosed for sure without a blood test or a necropsy. Here is some reading about it when you have time:

Thank you. I wondered about that but none of my other chickens are sick or showing any signs of sickness. She is not showing any type of respiratory sickness, she just can't get up when she lays down and her legs get out to the side. I have her in a kennel alone as of this morning. It is raining pretty bad here and I did not want her to get down on the wet ground and not be able to get up. I am just not understanding this at all. Only real signs of sickness is the problem with her legs, and weight loss. I have not noticed her shaking her head anymore. My eight other chickens are all ok and showing no signs of being sick at all, and she has been like this for 2 weeks now. I know that Merek's is highly contagious. I go out there 4 or more times a day to check on her and make sure that she is getting to eat and drink. I have noticed the other hens and the rooster pecking at her also. That is another reason that have put her in a kennel alone. I just don't know what it could be.

Thank you Barbara. No new flock members and no other signs that any of my other chickens are sick. No other deaths in the flock either. I really don't understand this.
