Im very sorry about your hen. We have had some like this too, thinking they were egg bound and they actually had water belly. What we did was drain them to help them feel more comfortable. You mentioned in your post that she’s swollen, has that swelling gone down with the antibiotic? If not it could possibly be waterbelly, and the reason she could be looking better is because the antibiotics is killing some of the bacteria build up in her belly. Keep me posted as well, I hope you find what may be wrong with her.
Thank you, I don’t think it could be water belly. Her stomach is very hard, I thought maybe she has a lash egg stuck in there. It is softer now. She did get very skinny from not eating so we’re trying to put some weight on her. Overall though, she’s taking dust baths again, eating and drinking, coming for treats, and sleeping on the top roost. I think she is doing much better. Check your hen over for pin feathers. Looks like she may be molting.
