My 3 yr old cuckoo maran hasn’t been feeling well the last couple of days and this morning found her in a nesting box stiff with her neck back and squeaking every few seconds. Gave her an epsom salt bath yesterday cause she had pasty butt bad. I could tell she was having a hard time breathing this morning. We put her down cause she was obviously suffering. I’m concerned on what this could be.


Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you still have her body? You can send her off for a necropsy at your state vet.
If that's not an option, it's mere speculation as to what caused her decline.
You did the right thing euthanizing her.

Sorry for your loss. What state are you located? Most state vets do a good job diagnosing chickens. Keep the body cold, but not frozen. Here is a list of state vets to contact Monday morning:
