Im still trying to get the new "rescue" hens all well. One young Sussex behaves very odd. She sleeps a lot. Keeps her head tucked in and has water diarrhea. Sorry, but when she poos it sounds like ketchup coming from a bottle. She doesn't roost, but neither do a few of the ones she came with. When I isolated her in a cage, she was VERY active and had some consistency to her poo. She eats and drinks without a problem. Any comments??

I've isolated her again and worming her. She is once again acting wild, jumping, cackling, wanting out with the others.

If she's new, it could be coccidiosis since she may be exposed to a new strain that she is not immune to. Corid or amprollium from the feedstore would be the best treatment. 2 tsp liquid ( or 1.5 tsp of the powder) per gallon of water for 5 days. If they are not drinking well, put some on their food, too. After 5 days, give them vitamins and probiotics in their water for 1 week.
