I received an order of 4 chicks from a hatchery on Thursday, they hatched Wednesday. One of the chicks was not able to stand when I opened the box so I called the hatchery for advice and they only said to give it fluids. From reading posts here, Ive been giving her sugar water and polyvysol without iron via a syringe. She will not peck at the starter and will not eat anything. She will drink on her own if I dip her beak into the water. She is unable to stand up or move around. She will kick her legs if I hold her on her back but will not put any weight on her right leg. She also struggles to hold her head up and goes into a strange pose when first picked up. She sticks both wings out, and puts both feet near her head and tucks her head in towards her stomach. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and what I could do to help her? She's getting to the point where she has to eat something so advice on that would be helpful as well.

Sadly, some chicks just don't make it, so be prepared. Try making a sloppy mash out of her feed using the vitamin water. If you aren't already, you need to keep her apart from the other chicks as they will trample her. I have my fingers crossed for you....
