Sorry for the long post, but I am looking for advice on my duck, Georgie and wanted to give all the background info on her.
When Georgie was 1 month old (Sept 2018) we returned home one night & she was unable to walk. She would swim in the pond if I brought her to it, but when I had gone back to check on her she was up on the bank while all her friends were swimming.
She was eating/drinking and I had moved her to a smaller coop because her friends were running her over. She had loose, green poop during this time.
I ended up moving her into my house and would swim her every night in the bathtub. She was about the same and then declined. I had to move her head from the water to the feed and she was unable to walk at all, but could swim. She had a hard time holding her head up and would fall over and her head/neck would go under belly. She declined over the period of a week and I made the decision to bring her to work (I work at a vet clinic who treats ducks) to have her euthanized because she had become very lethargic and lifeless.
On the way to the clinic she quaked at me, something she hadn't done in a long time. When we got to the clinic the Dr looked at her and she started moving her head and neck and was able to eat and drink on her own. I brought her home on loxicom and also gave her a liquid vitamin supplement daily.
Over the course of the next 2 months she continued to live in my house and swim every night in the tub, she had been on loxicom and tylan soluble which seemed to help and she was back to her normal self! So she went back out to the coop with another special needs duck.
Since that point she has had no issues, until last week. I noticed she was a little off, not 100% herself. Her poop was very loose and green again. She was starting to have trouble walking again, but not like the first time (she was unable to walk at that time, she can still walk now just struggles). I brought her to work for an xray to see if she was egg bound), she hasn't laid an egg in 5-6 days, there was no egg. She is home on loxicom again.
When she walks she uses her wings to balance, walks a step and will fall forward and her beak with hit the ground, her head will go under herself and she will just stop. She is still able to swim.
Anyone have any advice or experience with something similar?!
