If it was me I would put on a pair of gloves, find me a box of some sort and put it in the box and take it else where. I don't have the heart to kill anything either, not even a stinky little rat. That way if he is sick then he will not be near your crew and if he ain't then he can go on about his business.

I would keep it if it was me. But you are talking about someone who has tried to raise stinky little wild rats....ewwww.

Rabies and Leptospirosis are just two small animal borne diseases that are epizoonotic and zoonotic.

Right, but moles dont usally carry rabies since they have little contact with transporters of the disease. Lepto is a possibility but EXTREMELY slim. Most animals plagued with these disease die quickly.

Just trying to help. Hope you dont end up killing a healthy animal that was just moving along its merry way.

Sounds more like a vole than a mole. If you can see its eyes it's probably not a mole. A vole is a lighter color than a mole and will not dig a trench but will usually use one that is already made by mole. The vole will eat roots and bark off of trees and vines but they will also eat meat. They are small but they will eat anything they can catch up to their own size. They will not usually back down either whereas a mole will stay away from anything it can and will not really harm much. They dig the tunnels for a few hours and rest for a few hours and eat mostly worms, grubs, slugs and such. The moles get a bad rap for hurting peoples gardens and plants but they do not touch them. They leave the mounds over the tunnels but the aeration actually will help the garden and plants. Well that was longer than planned but mainly kill a vole love a mole.

Thanks for all the advice, the little one has gone back into its burrow? Into another yard? I don't know where it went, but it's gone for now. So..... unless it comes back and causes trouble, I'll just live and let live.

Thanks for the vole description, that's what it sounds like.
