I'm on 36 acres. Every night the 'yotes come from the back of the property and pester my birds, my dogs, and my horses. I'm tired of it so today I went and scoped out the area where they come from. It rained last night so I know they were there this morning or late last night because all the tracks had no rain scaring. I looked at the scat, all berries with a little bit of bones. I'm planning on setting up an ambush for them in a couple days because they follow the same path every night.

All I have right now is my .22 (loaned the 12 gauge and a couple rifles to my dad for a while), a hunting ghille, and about 20 rounds of some old Federal hollow points. I'm planning on getting some new hollow points and a sent cover.

I'm trying to think of something to use as bait but all I can think of is some frozen chicken we have in the freezer.

Any tips on how else to set up?

Sounds good ,too bad no 00 buck and twelve gauge put the chicken out and let them gather around it try to get as many as possible because they will not come around that way any more.

If they are using the run every day you don't need bait. If they are hunting-wise, bait would alert the 'yotes to trouble. At most maybe tie a chicken feather to a piece of monofilament ground to and tie it a little off the ground to flutter in the breeze. Really though, first time out, just sit and watch and shoot if you get the chance. Save the other tricks for later.

You might check state hunting regulations. Some will have regs against baiting - they may allow calling though through the use of predator calls that sound like a dying rabbit, etc... In Texas you can use a spotlight (use a Red covered lens) to light them up.

if you get any post some pics but chances are they will know you are there they are smart animals atleast the 1s here are my cousin calls them dosnt always shoot them but they circle very wide and get down wind before coming out in the open

Dying rabbit call is supposed to be really great according to a post I saw on BYC. If you could tape a skinny plastic bottle, such as a shampoo bottle to the muzzle and practice with it a little, you might get to bag several without spooking them with the noise. It is likely that it would be a fair bit quieter. Not knowledgeable about any possible violations of any laws in that regard. Have to do in on the QT (pun intended) or do due diligence with research of your own. Never tried it , but it might work. Night vision scope would be the berries tho. What is behind you? If not wilderness, I would not dare try it. If homes, etc back there birdshot may be only thing safe enough to use.

I'm not doing that because of the large number of wildlife around. Plus that's illegal and we already have animal control coming over due to my mother's horse being mistreated by her (we called to get it taken to a good home).

I'm probably going to start working when the moon starts getting full again, tried to go out and watch them because I heard them yipping but due to the waning moon I couldn't see to well and no night scopes. I'm working with my own eyes and iron sights.
