Sick Pea Chick Died - Going to Vet School For Necropsy - Will Post Results

Me 2. That powder looks scary.

If you found it someplace that you can get it tonight, get it. If you get the pills, too, great. When you get home, get me her current weight and I'll have my math wizard figure out a safe way to dose her. If you can, get a picture of the label so we can do the dosing correctly.

Terri, you may want to stock up for the "just in case" for your peas. :/

I think anyone with turkeys and/or peafowl should have metronidazole and Safegaurd.

Ok, question, where would the pea have gotten the blackhead? I do have chickens and turkeys and I know that they can have it without any symptoms and pass it on but my turkeys have NEVER had blackhead. Where could this blackhead be coming from? :idunno

Has your peachick ever been on dirt where chickens have been? Could it have eaten an earthworm? It's interesting that you haven't had any issues raising poults, which is why I really want you to consult with a vet.

Can you hick up any live crickets or mealworms on your way home? If they have different sizes, get the big ones. It' a great way to get calories into a sick bird.

Yep, she has been on the dirt. Was outside in the chicken yard. The only issue that I had with poults was wet pox and then dry pox.
