There’s a feral peahen that came on my radar about ago for looking very lethargic as she stood over a broken egg. The shell on the egg more resembled that of a snake. The edges of the shell where broken had curled. So far I’ve found 3 broken eggs in the neighborhood. One in a decent looking nesting site but the others were on a sidewalk and driveway. The poor girl has no control. The last egg I found might not have been hers. The salon it was barely a translucent skin. She walks around usually with both wings drooping down to almost the ground. A friend did some research and got medicine to treat some kind of worm. I forgot the name of the disease it’s for but might recognize it if I see it. She has some decent days but frankly I’m amazed she’s still with us. We tried to catch her but she eluded two of us.
Anyway, does anyone have a clue on what this sounds like it could be? It breaks my heart seeing SweetPea suffering. The conspiracy theorist in me says someone’s poisoned the hens in the neighborhood. No peachicks have shown up so far and one peahen who was missing for a month, presumably brooding, came back having nothing to show for it.
