Noticed a few days ago my peahen was a little wing droopy didn't think much of it since it was a hot humid day. This am I found her sitting on the ground not roosting a little lethargic wouldn't eat. She will drink water so I added probiotics for now. Came home this afternoon she is roosting but still droopy. The peafowl are raised near chickens and have not been wormed. So I am trying to go about the best way to treat her and the others. I'm assuming she will need a worming dose, was going to put corrid in the water for cocci and I'm trying to find metronidazole so i can treat for blackhead/e.coli. Should i hit her with all this at once. I checked my feed store for safeguard all they have is the paste for horses how do I go about administering?

How old is your hen?

If laying age, when did she lay her last egg?

What does her poop look like?

How much does she weigh?

If you want to treat for worms give the paste at 0.23 ml per pound orally for five days.

Oh, and you can give Corid, metronidazole, and Safeguard at the same time.

If she is not eating and drinking you will need to tube feed her fluids, lots of them, then tube fluids with food. This is not an option.

I'm assuming she is about 1.5 to 2 years old. I aquired her last fall she appeared at my farm never left and I never found an owner so she stayed. I have not seen eggs yet and I think she is of laying age. She is drinking! I haven't caught her eating though and she wasn't interested this morning. Shes about 6-7lbs. Her poop looks normal to me maybe a little more whitish than usual and runnier. I've looked at so many threads on here. I was going to take her some scrambled eggs

I found this 250mg Metronidazole but it also has 75mg of praziquantel not sure it that's something that can be given to them

I was also able to find the Safeguard goat dewormer at another feed store. It's the 10% suspension. Should I give that orally to all of them or just mix 3cc to a gallon and serve ?

The 3 cc to a gallon method will not treat worms. If you want to treat them, give them 0.23 ml per pound orally for five days.

If you're sure it's blackhead then give it. Praziquantel can be given, but the normal praziquantel dose for a huge male is 60 mg once, repeat in 10-14 days.
