I read that birds that free range or eat off the ground don't need supplemental grit, 'cause they get enough from pecking at the ground and I haven't noticed any undigested seed or had any crop problems here, so there must be some truth in what I read. How about gravel or grit? I know chikens and other crop birds need grit and gravel to break down food in their crop. I've always offered my birds oyster shell for the grit and calcium. My chickens need it and the peafowl have it too. Don't know if the peafowl necessarily need it for their crop or not. Might be a question for Kathy.
