sick pregnant goat?????

It is the molasses in the brown sugar that does the trick. We put molasses on the grain of pregnant does to prevent this problem. Sheep that are carrying more than 2 babies will also have this problem !

You are on the right track Kim.

We have a doe at work prone to having quads or more. We routinely give her SQ dextrose, one dose per week, starting five weeks before her due date.

well it has been six days since this started and mary seems to be back to her normal self although she still isnt eating as much of her grain as before but she is eating more hay.every thing else has gone back to normal she is back to her demanding self .thanks for all of yall's help and thoughts.

Have you tried giving her a dose of goat drench? My local feed store carries it, so you may be able to find it pretty easily. It allows her to get some vitamins and minerals she may not be getting from her diet since she is not eating enough.

yesterday was the first day since she got sick that she has eaten her daily ration like she was before she got sick. i think she is out of the woods on this deal but i go out and check her many times a day i spend more time in the goat pen than i do anywhere else.her udder keeps getting bigger i think she is going to be a real good milker.
