In need of some advice, I've got a 5 month old speckled sussex that is in a bad way. This morning she was found sitting in the nesting box with her head hanging limp out of the box. Now I will point out, today was a hot day (100 degrees) however being that we found her at 10:30 am I do not think it was that hot. I am wondering about her possibly being egg bound, however despite following several posts on BYC I haven't found any evidence of an egg. Tonight she is still able to stand however is unable to lift her head. We have been able to get a bit of water in her, but she is unable to drink on her own.

So, thought? Is this heat stroke, egg bound, something else I should be looking at?

Any help would be appreciated.

How is she doing?

Could she have gotten into moldy food? I am wondering about botulism.

eta: Maybe this post will help

I have a 5 month old barred rock pullet with the same symptoms!! What happened to yours did you figure out how to treat it? Did survive?
Sorry but I am new at this and I can use any help I can get.

Thanks,
