Sick quail and cant figure out what is going on

Hello Everyone,

This morning I Went to check on my quails and found this female quail in a paralyzed state, she is able to flap her wings and move her legs but she is just laying in her side and is very aware. She is not egg bound and her breastbone is full and doesn't feel skinny to the touch. I follow procedures with vaccinations and monthly medicine in their water supplies and have been doing this for 2 years but just today I ran into this which is new to me. If anyone could guide me as to what this is and what I can do to prevent this itd be much appreciated

I'm not certain, but this sounds a little like botulism poisoning or some other toxin. What does her poop look like! Is she limp? I would try a molasses flush and some activated charcoal. Good luck

Are there any bumps or cuts on her head?

There shouldn't be any need for monthly medicine in their water unless recommended by a vet. What, exactly have you been putting in their water?
The vaccinations are for NPIP? What vaccinations have they been getting?

The monthly medicine I've been giving them since i started is called bastonero plus, which I have never had any problems with, its just a dewormer medicine use it to prevent any sort of internal parasites. Also use it on my chickens

She is about 3 months, their feed consists of 22% developer feed from ace hi with a small ratio of laymash mixed into it, this mixed feed has also been used ever since I started and haven't had issues, especially because I overlook the feed before mixing after reading many posts about feed being bad

No bumps or cuts even after checking all around.

Vaccination wise I forget the name but not for npip, havent looked into becoming npip but will be looking into it soon,This vaccination is mainly used for cocci and other preventions

Her poop was in watery in the beginning but is returned to normal, at first I assumed maybe a heat stroke and she is still laying on her as of today, she flaps her wings and makes the effort to start getting up, feet are still moving around, will try a molasses flush

My quails are in hutches, with a 75% dirt area and a 25% wire mesh area, all hutches are about 5ft long 3 ft wide. Just recently I started making plans for a quail aviary like I have for my chickens to have them on the ground rather than hutches cause Ive seen some beautiful quail aviaries on the ground that made me start planning

I would stop the random medication. If they actually have worms or conditions that need medication, then use it, but medicating just to medicate is not a good idea.

Has it been very hot in your area? It is possible that it is heat stroke, but if they had plenty of water and shade, they are actually quite hardy.

Agree with above, I don't and wouldn't give any medications unless there is a reason to.
I would also suggest picking her up and inspecting her over for mites to make sure she is not having the life sucked out of her and to really make sure there is nothing else you can find out.
