okay my uncle dropped a rooster off about a month ago because they didnt want it because it was too mean. I keep him by his self for about two weeks he seemed fine. He had about 3 inch spurs so we took them off before we put him in with our other chickens.
Every since I put him in with my other chickens all he has done was sat on the roost all day exept to eat a little. Now this past week he has been doing alot of laying around not even on the roost. I noticed a little gurgling when he was breathing every once in a while but i thought that could be normal. I dont know if he is sick or if a rooster could get really depressed from taking his spurs off. Any help would be appreciate as i dont know what to look for.

he did seem to eat but that is about the only time he would move around and he didnt move to much then

Gurgling while breathing is not normal for any animal. You should probably isolate him and start nursing care. Keep him warm...maybe moisten his food with warm water and encourage him to eat. Watch for nasal discharge....get him to a vet if that's practical, and look up his symptoms online. You may be able to treat him with antibiotics in his water or something. I wouldn't let him go though. He'll prolly need supportive care to get well again.

Good luck.

ok i did put him back by himself I would start some sort of care but i dont know what to give him. his poop his liquid and green. he has not been eating grass

His poo is likely liquid and green because he isn't eating enough and he's using his liver to provide energy- this makes the poo bilious, thus green.

Im guessing your birds may be carrying something he hasn't been exposed to OR he's so stressed by the move he's caught something everyone else is healthy enough to resist.

Look at the sick page listed on my signature and perhaps something will strike a chord with you- there may be an obvious course of treatment with those symptoms.

Good luck!!

since there is some gurgling while he is breathing should i give him some sort of antibotics? if so what kind

I'm thinking he is't depressed, he is sick. try to get him to eat - offer treats, like scrambled egg, yogurt, wet cat food - if he doesn't eat soon, he is going to die.

pick him up and look at him closely. does he have any discharge from his eyes or nostrils?

there isn't any point in just dousing him with antibiotics because you have no idea what is wrong, and the odds aren't great that you will hit on the right antibiotic.

sorry I can't give you more help -

i will give him some yogurt in the morning and see if he eats that and go from there
