Hello. Thanks as always for replying. I have had no hint of respiratory illness in the flock of 14 all winter long. Did a check several days ago and no symptoms. Then, two days ago, one of the healthy, laying buffs just dropped and we found her in the morning dead. They hadn't bothered her. Not a mark. No pests on her. She had been laying to the point where she had a squishy egg that must have come out after her passing so she showed no signs. Don't know why she passed, but, yesterday and today, the rooster is showing signs of developing a cold/respiratory ilness. Two questions, I had great success last fall with duramycin in the water. If I treat with that again, can I also do their worming at the same time so that the egg hold is all at the same time? Anyone use anything else? No one is showing any signs but the chicken, but, at this point, I am thinking that I should treat everyone....

Thoughts on the whole thing?

Thanks so much

I don't know...she didn't show any signs of it at all. I have never had one so I wouldn't know, but I would think they would act a bit different.... She was out and about the entire day before with the whole crew. She wasn't sitting or anything. It almost looked like where she fell was right off of the roost overnight and then her egg that she would lay during the day slipped out after she passed. It looked "normal", but, if you touched it, it was squishy. ?

I have a very sick chicken this past winter, and I treated her with duramayacin and electrolites in the water, plus I took her inside the basement (in a cage of course), and ran a vaproizer on her! She was a favorite chicken of mine.....worked like a charm. I think I gave the whole flock the duramayacin and electrolites too, for about a week. Everybody's healthy now.

I don't think it would hurt to worm them too, but I am not 100% sure on that.
