Sick Rooster!

I just went put a bowl of regular water and he got down to what looked like eating. I can watch closer next time. I don't have any heat on him now but I can put that also. The crust was gone form his mouth. Do you know if that Metronidazole comes in a liquid form that @Wyorp Rock recommended? And can I get that at a feed store or TSC?

Check inside the beak very well for any lesions/plaques. If the crust is gone, it could have been mucous or similar due to sour crop, since you mention that his breath has a smell.

You do not want to treat with Metrondizole unless you highly suspect or get confirmation that the cause of his symptoms/illness is Canker. If you do find out it's Canker, getting a script from the vet is best. Metrondizole can sometimes be found at fish/exotic pet stores or you can order it online. Same with Acidified Copper Sulfate, you most likely will not find it in stores, it will be ordered online.

Here's some good info on crop issues:

fwiw-Infectious Coryza reportedly does have a very rotten smell, but it is a respiratory illness - generally there would be obvious eye/facial swelling with a thick yellow foul discharge or pus, accompanied by mucous from the nostrils, sneezing, coughing, etc.

Thanks for all the help. I got tied up at work and couldn't reply. We will check him again when we get home and go from there. I'll keep y'all posted.

So it looks to be canker. Is there anything we can do before we get the meds that are needed?

It looks like Canker to me as well.
Thank you for the very good photo!

@casportpony has experience (ithink) with Canker in pigeons. I'm just not sure what else beside the Metrondizole and Acidified Copper Sulfate would be used for treatment.

I did do a quick google search - you can find a lot of info, but not sure really what is a trusted "source". Possible Poultry DVM is o.k. - they do mention using Thyme Extract, that may offer supportive care, but Canker, from what I understand is very hard to treat even with conventional medicine.

It's important to keep him hydrated the best you can since he probably will get to the point it's painful to eat/drink.

We ordered some fish zole yesterday. He did eat a scrambled egg last night and this morning. He does drink. I also read about the thyme extract. I hope it's not too late.
I planned o going ride to some feed stores today to get the copper sulphate but unfortunately I got busy at the office and can't leave right now.

Found some copper sulfate at the local feed store. Is the mixture the same but dosage different being he is a bantam? 1 pound or 1 1/2 pounds at the most. Can I give both fish zole and sulfate or should I do just the fish role when it comes in tomorrow?

Do you have a photo of the package of Acidified Copper Sulfate?

I'm working on finding the answer if both can be given together:)

Some people do recommend using Acidified Copper Sulfate (order online at places like jeffers pet) to help prevent spread of infection to other birds. You do need to read and follow packaging instructions for Acidified Copper Sulfate(only use plastic/non metal water containers with Acidified Copper Sulfate)

Looks like what you have is used for pools? I see "aquatic chemicals" on that packaging. What you have is Copper Sulfate Pentrahydrate which I believe is commonly used in root/stump killer - personally I would not use that.

What you are wanting is ACIDIFIED COPPER SULFATE that is usually found online and packaged/specifically for use in livestock. Note the wording on the packaging of the products I have posted below - "supplemental" this is designed to be given to chickens, turkeys, hogs, cattle.
