Sick rooster

I am needing advice for my poor boy. He is losing weight even though I see him eating and drinking. I have been feeding him eggs and bread with olive oil (in addition to feed) and yet his crop is non existent at the end of the day. He has been wormed and treated for mites. He has even stopped crowing :-( I’m not sure what else to do for him, he isn’t feeling well. Any advice on how I could help him?? Thanks!!

How old is your rooster? What do you feed him? What do his droppings look like? Have you felt the crops of some of the other chickens to make that you are feeling in the right spot. His crop should be empty in the morning, and fill up gradually until roosting time in the evening. I would start some crushed vitamin B complex into food or water, or a poultry vitamin, and in addition to the egg, offer some wet chicken feed in a small bowl, and alternate some chopped liver, tuna, or hamburger meat.

I do put apple cider vinegar and rooster booster in the water. The girls crops are big and full at the end of the day.His is like he hasn’t eaten at all, very hard to find. I don’t notice any thing from his nose or a sour smell. Would cooked venison be something I could give him, chopped up of course?

I forgot to mention that when he eats, he likes to stretch his neck upward. Not sure why but it’s like he has troubles swallowing?? I think he is about 3 years old. He eats what the girls eat: egg layer or feather fixer feed plus veggie scraps from our kitchen

I would look inside his beak in case he has any yellow growths inside. They sometimes will adjust their crops while eating which may look like what you are seeing, but hard to know. Chopped vennison would be okay to try, but make sure that he has grit to help with digestion. What did you use for worming?

I do put out grit since they are mostly in the run since we have issues with coyotes and foxes. I use Valbazen dewormer. It’s just weird that he hasn’t crowed lately. And he doesn’t chase the girls anymore either. He’s just droopy:-/

Poor guy. I would definitely have a good look down his beak. Sounds to me like there's something down there making him miserable. A growth of some description.
