Sick rooster

When using a stool softener for crop problems, I would always recommend generic doccusate sodium, brand name Colase. Unfortunately Dulcolax sells a laxative and a stool softener, which is very confusing. Always make sure you are buying doccusate sodium.

So I have been giving Corrid, vitamins and treatment for crop issues. Still not much improvement. While massaging the roo today I have noticed a lump on the side of his neck and it’s like his esophagus is sticking out more. It feels hard but it’s not the crop. It’s higher, like under his wattles. Could be a tumor, and that’s why he isn’t crowing and is stretching his neck when he eats?? Any other wisdom or advice? Im at a loss :-(

That might be the trachea or epiglottis that you are feeling. Since the trachea is in front of the esophagus, it is common to feel the tracheal cartilage.
It’s really sticking out!

The lump, which about the size of a small walnut is about an inch down from the roosters check. I’ve been giving coconut oil and massaging but I don’t think it’s helping. I’m also treating, again, for sour crop. I hear gurgling after I feel the crop area. Anyone have any idea about the lump on the neck? The hard lump is definitely not the crop, it a lot higher up...
