Hello, I have a sick Rooster wings dropped, wobbly when walking, not crowing or up to his old antics. He is 6 months old ....I decided to treat for poultry mites... gave him lots of protein and electrolytes. He IS eating and drinking. He is just very wobbly and now that I had to handle him a lot he seems to have lost weight and is skinny. He’s sleeping now. Does anyone know if they bounce back from this or is it too late? I’m not sure if nights were def the prob.

I have a Silkie Roo he is 9 months old almost doing the same thing as your rooster he is wobble when he tries to walk and has to use his wings for balance

Possibly Marek's, some do bounce back.. My local friend just had one that did.
Marek's Virus FAQ

What is his normal feed routine including treats and supplements?

Consider adding your general location to your profile as it will help some folks make their most relevant suggestions possible at a glance.

Each case must be assessed individually as MANY things poultry related will present with similar symptoms and no two birds may present ALL the symptoms the same.

Hope re recovers quickly and also that you (both) get answers! :fl

I live in northern CT....They have access to food all day...treats when I get back from work such as meal worms, fruit or vegetables. The other birds are ok. I did see him scratching and itching.
He stopped crowing this week and I didn’t think much of it. But then his wings started to droop as the week went on and then he started to stumble. I think out of weakness.

Thanks ..we live in Ontario Canada, he has regular chicken feed and some scratch as well some treats are scrambled eggs cooked meat veggy and fruit pieces ,i have been giving him with vitamins added and vitamin e added to his food. I've been trying extra protein into him

Have you examined him for any mites or lice? You should be able to find them on him or the eggs or poop. The roost mites come on them at night and hide in the coop during the daytime. The northern fowl mites are on them 24/7. Lice are easier to see and there are clumps of whitish grey eggs at the base of feathers. Here is what to look for:

His symptoms could be from dehydration, being bullied or kept from food and water, or possibly Mareks disease. Lead shot in soil or old lead paint chips, automotive spills, and other toxins can cause similar symptoms. His age is just about right for Mareks to show up, but I hope that is not the cause.
