Sick rooster

Awesome! Thank you!! I will try this tonight and see if I can get things moving. Poor boy has really had a rough go!
I did the coconut oil and crop massage last night and twice this morning. The food is not moving out of the crop. It doesn't feel impacted. It's not hard but sort of squishy. I can feel food and grit in there. I'm not smelling anything funky from his beak.
I'm wondering if his body is shutting down and he's just not digesting. He's tired and isn't moving around much. I gave him some nutri-drench this morning to hopefully give him a boost. Any other suggestions?

Is he pooping? What's that like?

Let's get the rundown on everything you've done to be sure.
He's had Amoxicillin - how much and for how long?
He's been dewormed - Safeguard at 0.23ml per pound of weight once daily for 5 days?
All correct?

I'd work on hydration, getting the vitamins into him is a good idea.
Offer wet soupy feed if he's not eating well. Sometimes they just go off feed, so offer tidbits of other things he might like - egg, fish, meat, soft and chopped up fruit (melon/grapes), tomato, a bit of soft cooked veggies mashed up (carrot, potato, etc.). Just a few ideas - if mine if off feed, if they will eat something, then well and good, if they recover, they will go back to eating normal feed.

With the crop contents not moving, this will eventually turn sour. Does it feel soft and squishy/air filled, doughy, hard...
If it doesn't empty, then move to the next stage and treat as sour. Miconazole (Monistat) or Clotrimazole (athlete's foot cream) can be given. Instructions are in the article. I usually use Clotrimazole because it's usually more economical, but I've used both with good results. Continue with the coconut oil too, it won't hurt anything.

He needs to be drinking, so do be sure that he is.

I'm sorry that he's not doing better, such a handsome boy.

Poop is not solid. Mostly liquid, white and greenish. I'll attach a photo. It's definitely more green today than it has been this week.

I gave him the Valbazen (.08ml per pound of weight) orally once. However, when day ten rolled around for the second dose, he wasn't drinking much on his own and I was afraid if I did the dewormer at that point, it would dehydrate him beyond what he could handle. He was still breathing heavy at that time which seemed like the biggest concern.

He's been on the amoxicillin for 5 days now. The labored breathing drastically improved after day 3 on the Amoxicillin. The dose for that is 1tsp per gallon of water. He's been drinking well the last few days.

I've offered him lots of different food so far, Greek yogurt with a little honey, strawberries, blueberries, scrambled eggs, meal worms, salmon, mushy feed, watermelon. He's not interested in anything today.

I'll run to the pharmacy and get some Clotrimazole and give that try. Right now the crop feels mushy, not doughy or hard.

Should I go ahead and try the dewormer again?

And also, thank you so much for all your help. I honestly appreciate it so so much.

Poor guy!
I agree, the poop does not look good at all. You can give the 2nd dose of dewormer if you wish.

I'd continue with the Amoxicillin to 10 days total, see if that makes a difference. Do try to encourage him to drink the medicated water.

Not sure what else you can do. The crop is getting boggy, likely from the antibiotics and the system slowing and/or shutting down. The yeast medication may help keep him from getting a full blown yeast infection in the crop.

He's good about drinking the medicated water so I'll keep pushing that today. I also did the dewormer last night. We might as well try!

I'm hoping if I can get him moving around outside today it might stimulate the digestive system. 🙏🤞

Getting him outside is a great idea.

Keep me posted on how he's doing.
Good morning!
He really enjoyed the outside time yesterday. I'm planning on bringing him out again this morning before the heat hits.
You were right about the sour crop. It turned pretty sour overnight but I had already started treating him with the Clotrimazole. So we are managing that. His crop isn't totally emptying overnight but it is partially draining/ digesting.

He ate some grass and grit in the yard yesterday and actually seemed a little interested in his mushy feed. All good signs. He still has the will to live so we will just keep fighting.
