I have an almost 4 month old rooster who seems to be very sick.
I don’t think he will make it, but I’d like to know what people think could be wrong so I can prevent this from repeating.

Clinical signs
He is all fluffed up, barely moving, and was isolating himself from the flock original. He is very lethargic but has no visible wounds. He has an empty crop, so he isn’t eating.
Now he is turning his head really far to the side and then will do the other side. His eyes are closed but they were “shaking” and now he is opening his mouth to let out a few breaths (not gasping)

Update: He had seizures for awhile where his wings, head, and legs would fly out and quiver every few seconds. Those have stopped now and his head is just shaking a bunch. He was also spitting up bubbly saliva for awhile but that stopped too. He clicks his beak together a lot as well.

Could he have been injured by another rooster, or could he have eaten something bad for him? Do you have a compost bed or any plants that he could get into? When there are neurological symptoms, giving human vitamin E 400 IU and some thiamine in human B complex daily can be helpful. If you should lose him, most state vets can perform a necropsy if you keep the body cold, not frozen, and bring them in during office hours M-F. Here is a list of state vets:

We do have other roosters, but he did not have any signs of injury, not even scabs on the comb. It is possible he ate something, they are free range, but we do not have a compost pile. We have plants, but we don’t have any new plants and all our chickens have been around said plants as they are free range.
We did start giving him Vitamin E, and he got better last night (even made it through the night).
However, this morning he had a big seizure and passed away. We live in a rural area where the nearest vet that will look at poultry is over an hour away. I also imagine it’s expensive for a necropsy. Which is why my main question was if this sounds like something that could hurt the rest of the flock.

UPDATE!

He made it through the night, but in the morning he had a big seizure and unfortunately passed away. I’m still wondering if I should be concerned for my flock.
