Hi there, my silkie is sick AGAIN! The first time she was sick she couldn't sit, stand or lay down without being propped up. Alot of suggestions were Merks dease or vitamin deficiency. I gave her calcium supplement and just kept giving her water. She came through thankfully! This time around her legs are straight out and she can't bend them. Anyone have any ideas? 20180303_185108.jpg

It sucks cause I'm thinking the same thing and so many people have said that sadly :( My question is how long should I wait to see if she gets better? It's sad seeing her like this and I don't know of she' suffering. I don't want to keep her around like this out of selfishness, but at the same time I don't want to let her go:(

Do you have other chickens? Merek's is contagious so if you do she will need to be separated.

She may recover with time and proper care, you said she did before. However, after that she may relapse at some point. If she doesn't seem to be in pain, I would keep her in the house on a soft surface and make sure she doesn't get pressure sores or breast blisters. How long did the recovery take last time?

Both my chickens are house pets so she's inside already. My other hen is fine I haven't seen any symptoms with her at all. Last time we started seeing improvements with in 3 or 4 days. This time it's been a full 7 days and she hasn't made any physical improvements sadly. It's sad because she's still very much alert.

Well, if she is happy and you are content to continue caring for her, there is no need to rush to anything. Just wait and see how it progresses. Best of luck :hugs
