Sick Speckled Sussex? Video of strange noise she's making...

IMO I would Keep giving her that olive oil soaked bread as often as she will take it. I did have one that seemed like something was stuck and this really helped but it took a few days of giving it to her. And keep cold water for her as well. If she is jumping up on the roost then there is some time to figure out whats wrong but if she starts laying on the floor puffed up then she is getting worse. When they start feeling really sick they don't roost anymore but just huddle in a corner. Not sure what else you can do but hopefully someone here has had the same thing and can help you out. GOOD LUCK! HOpe she improves for you!

She looks sick. She is breathing heavily. I don't know what is wrong, but I'd give her some polyvisol vitamins, a couple drops down the beak. Poor girl. I hope she is okay.

A friend who has had chickens all his life is telling me that the heat makes them act like this sometimes, and also he mentioned that if they are sick, that there is medicated feed available that they get from TSC that has no withdrawal period. I've never read about this....anyone else?

I'm sorry the massage didn't help. I think she has something stuck in her throat not in the crop. Just my opinion.

It could be any one of a hundred things. I hope she's back to her old self soon.

One of my SLW's was making a weird bleeting sound, almost like a lamb, or baby doll. I kept her in isolation for a couple of days just to see what, if anything would happen. After about two days she stopped and she's been fine and is back with the flock. She did lay her first egg while in her little cage...

Sometimes, they just make weird noises, I guess. If she doesn't get better, there is not much you can do but keep her comfortable (sorry) - I hope she's better by the time you read this....

Well, we were gone most of the day yesterday, so we left them locked up in the coop/run until around 6pm, when we let them out to free range the rest of the night. She did not make that noise again. Quite possibly there was something stuck as others have suggested, and she was able to finally pass it. I can tell you that she ate some leftover cucumber and onion salad that was just swimming in oil and ACV. Not only ate from it, but drank from it...the night before. So possibly the oil helped her throat or helped her pass something that was stuck. I don't know.

However, she has been left with a sneeze from time to time, so we'll see...

Thanks for the help!
